The company also said it hoped to safeguard the careers of 1,900 people employed at hotels it has recently bought and will convert to the Hilton Worldwide portfolio, including the Mint Hotel group, acquired from Blackstone earlier this month.

Across Europe Hilton expects to create 8,500 jobs in total with the UK, Russia, Turkey, Germany and Poland key markets for major growth.
It plans to open a further 110 hotels in Europe by 2014 with hotels due to open in the UK in the next year including DoubleTree by Hilton in Lincoln, and Hilton St George’s Park in Burton on Trent.
Career opportunities
Currently Hilton employs 30,000 people across the globe with career opportunities in a range of areas, such as sales and marketing and even engineering and construction. However, the majority are in hospitality with opportunities working front-of-house and food and beverage key.
The company also supports the Government’s Get Britain Working campaign, providing 100 placements at hotels around the country to unemployed young people and provides apprenticeships for 60 chefs each year through its Chef Apprenticeship Academy.
Its 18 month graduate training scheme, Elevator, is part of its efforts to develop its staff with participants usually fast-tracked to senior positions and its e-learning facility Hilton Worldwide University, offers more than 2,000 courses to staff across the globe.
