Wadworth launches Dray Bells Christmas ale

Wiltshire-based brewing company Wadworth has launched Dray Bells Christmas Ale, featuring festive aromas and tastes.

Wadworth shire horses are the faces of the new ale, with the pump clip (pictured) featuring the horses and their draymen on the Wadworth dray.

“The working shires are an integral part of Wadworth,” said Wadworth brand manager Christine Evans. “They not only represent the traditional skills which are still very much alive at Wadworth, but also embody the traditional values of our family business.

“They deliver to our pubs in all weathers throughout the year, ensuring that pubs get their supplies of their favourite ales, and they are a much loved sight on the streets of Devizes. They really are the heart of Wadworth and we thought it was about time that we had a beer to celebrate that!”

Sweet, rich and spicy flavours

Dray Bells Ale is a crisp, mid-amber bitter made with orange peel to add sweetness, dark brown muscavado sugar to add richness and cloves to impart a spicy tang.

“Think Christmas pudding with chocolaty notes,” added head brewer at Wadworth Brian Yorston. “It is a perfect warming ale to enjoy beside a roaring fire in a cosy pub while the wintry winds blow outside.”

Dray Bells will be available in bottles as well as on draft. Old Timer, the other Wadworth winter ale, will still be available to the trade. The two ales will complement one another as alternative choices for real ale drinkers over the festive period.
