Devon hotel seeks to regain Michelin star with new head chef

The Horn of Plenty hotel near Tavistock, Devon has appointed Scott Paton as head chef at the hotel’s 2 AA rosette restaurant, in an effort to regain its Michelin star rating.

Two former head chefs have achieved a Michelin star in the hotel’s 40 year history, and Paton wants to be the third.

“Over the next 5 years, we want to see the Horn regain the Michelin Star it deserves,” he said. “We also want to become one of the top 100 Restaurants in the UK, with a reputation for everything from canapés to mains, to afternoon teas. We want to get everything as close to perfection as we can.”

Paton, who previously worked at the Jack in the Green in Rockbeare, near Exeter, was awarded the accolade of South West Chef of the Year in 2009, and ‘Dessert of the Year’ by the Association of Pastry Chefs in 2008.
