The range of pastes, available now, come in four flavours – Thai red and green curry, Laksa curry and char siu. Made to traditional Oriental recipes, the paste format allows the ingredients to stay fresh and not lose aromatic flavours when stored.
Blue Dragon has had growth of nearly 13 per cent year-on-year. Sarah Branagan, category manager for sauces at Unilever Food Solutions, said that Knorr are “very excited about the new partnership."
She added: “The pastes ensure chefs – no matter what their skill level or kitchen resource – can now put dishes with a truly authentic taste of the East on their menus.”
What chefs want
Joining the range of pastes in January will be Knorr Blue Dragon Create More concentrated sauces. The sauces have been specifically developed for chefs who want to add their own signature to a dish, but don’t have the time or resource to create authentic Oriental dishes using a paste.
“We’re continually looking to enhance our portfolio of professional ingredients by listening to what chefs want,” added Branagan. “It’s important to get their feedback and develop ingredients that meet the needs of busy professional kitchens.”
The concentrated sauces will come in eight varieties, including sweet and sour and black bean. It can be used as a base – diluted one to one with water; marinade or as a flavour enhancer. Also launching in January is a new range of ready-to-use sauces.
Sarah Branagan said: “To celebrate the new partnership, we’re offering one lucky chef and their partner the chance to win a once-in-a-lifetime eight day culinary trip to Bangkok and Phuket. Chefs simply need to get creative and design a dish using the new Knorr Blue Dragon pastes.” Details on how to enter can be found at www.KnorrBlueDragon.co.uk.
