Von Essen's Greenway Spa hotel acquired by Eden Collection

Von Essen’s the Greenway Spa Hotel in Cheltenham has been acquired by the Eden Hotel Collection to join its classic, country and town house hotels estate.

The 17-bedroom Elizabethan manor house has three AA stars and is set in eight acres of parkland in the Cotswolds. This is the seventh former Von Essen hotel to be bought out of administration following an intense bidding process for 26 properties which were placed into administration in April.

“Recent sales of hotels in the Von Essen portfolio reinforce the great deal of interest shown in the group by existing experienced operators like the Eden Collection,” said Chris Day, managing director of Christie & Co.

“We are delighted to have sold yet another of these fine country house hotels, and especially to such a renowned operator as Eden Hotel Collection, in whose portfolio the Greenway Spa will fit very comfortably.”
