Throughout the duration of the final, which runs from 19 to 21 October, the official live stream can be accessed via this link or by going to our Videos & Audio secion. Fans and chocolate lovers will also have the possibility to vote online for their favourite chocolate showpiece.
Held at the Salon du Chocolat Professionnel, the fourth edition of the competition will see 19 leading chocolate and pastry chefs from around the world compete for the coveted title of World Chocolate Master. The winner will also receive a special public prize.
This year’s theme, Cocoa: the gift of Quetzalcoatl, seeks to transport spectators back in history to the ancient Aztec civilisation of Mexico. The candidates’ creations and recipes will need to reflect the atmosphere, the flavour and the taste connected with the early history of cocoa in South America.
Chocolate showpiece
They will be creating a chocolate showpiece, a pastry, a chocolate dessert, a moulded and an enrobed praline and Aztec necklace. These creations will be evaluated by celebrity chefs and chocolate masters from around the world.
The judging panel will be headed by two Jury co-presidents; leading French chocolatier and Meilleur Ouvrier de France Arnaud Lahrer and Jacquy Pfeiffer, award-winning French pastry chef from Alsace and co-founder of the renowned French Pastry School in Chicago. Shigeo Hirai, winner of the 2009 World Chocolate Masters Final will be the honorary president.
The UK contestant is John Costello from Park Cake in Oldham. Costello competed at the UK selection held at the Restaurant Show in 2010 and battled against four other contestants for the title of UK Chocolate Master.
