Chef Joel Antunes has announced plans to open a restaurant at Embassy Mayfair, the members' club owned by hotelier, restaurateur and nightclub owner Mark Fuller.

The 95-cover restaurant - Kitchen Joel Antunes - will open early November on the ground floor of the club, which is currently undergoing a refurbishment.

Antunes, who returned to the UK last year to open Brasserie Joel at Park Plaza Westminster Bridge, will run the restaurant in conjunction with Fuller and their business partners Dan Kapp, Jacobi Anstruther-Gough-Calthorpe and Timo Weber.

The restaurant will serve a predominantly Provençal-themed menu. Dishes will include Jerusalem artichoke velouté with poached eggs and truffles, Niçoise salad, Pissaladière comme à Menton and coq au vin. Desserts will feature some classics and also some whimsical offerings, including tarte tatin with vanilla, chocolat Liegois with nougatine, and Kit-Kat peanut bar.

A wine list of approximately 140 bins will concentrate on the major European wine-growing regions.

The restaurant's style will be inspired by mid-20th Century Riviera glamour with a colour scheme of duck egg blue, burgundy and Champagne. Art will also adorn the walls with a collection of Slim Aarons prints to hang alongside contemporary art pieces, including some Tracey Emin neons.

French-born Antunes worked for a decade in restaurants in France before moving to London in 1991 to open Les Saveurs. He went to the US in 1999 to launch Joel in Atlanta, Georgia, before returning to the UK to open Brasserie Joel. He will remain working with Park Plaza in a consultancy role while running the kitchen at Embassy Mayfair.
