Urban Pub Company begins ambitious expansion

The Urban Pub Company is set to roll out an ambitious expansion programme throughout Scotland’s central belt, which will see three new licenced outlets open their doors under three new brands by the end of this year.

The Glasgow-based company will launch The Fox & Ferret in Hamilton next week, followed closely by The Dog & Duck in Cambuslang and The Rat & Parrot in Bishopbriggs.

“Our aim is to open up a series of new outlets for these three new brands in provincial towns throughout Scotland's central belt where major pub operators do not presently have a presence," said a spokesman from the Urban Pub Company.

The programme is part of an expansion strategy aimed at opening up a string of new outlets in locations neglected by major licensed operators.

Major growth

“This roll-out represents significant investment,” added the spokesman. “It signifies our confidence that there is scope for major growth within parts of Scotland currently not being served an adequate quality food and drink offering at sensible prices.

“Given the market opportunities arising from the current economic climate, we are convinced that the time is now right for us to embark on this ambitious expansion programme.”

The Urban Pub Company operates a number of licensed premises throughout the central belt including The Lincoln Inn, 1901, The Wise Monkey and The Scotch and Rye. It also manages a number of outlets on behalf of various pubcos and independent operators.
