Carlsberg was revealed as the successful partner following a tender process that included several 'high-calibre' contenders. Admiral said it decided on Carlsberg UK as its major logistics partner 'due to its experience in servicing the leased and tenanted pub sector, plus its progressive use of technology and commitment to meeting high levels of customer service.'
Under the five-year agreement Admiral licensees will now be able to choose from an extensive portfolio of drinks brands, including Carlsberg’s flagship beer brands Carlsberg, San Miguel, Tetley's and Staropramen.
Simon Eyles, Commercial Manager at Admiral Taverns, said: “This is great news for our business – there will be tangible enhancements to service and real benefits to our licensees as a result of this move.”
Carlsberg UK chief executive Dr Isaac Sheps said: “Distribution is an integral element of our business model – of providing a full range of services to the on trade beyond our portfolio of leading beer brands. Securing this distribution agreement demonstrates Admiral’s confidence that we will do the right things for them and their licensees. We look forward to giving them the best service possible.”
Admiral will now begin the work of migrating its business to the new set up from its existing arrangements with current partner Heineken.
“We are now very focused on the transitional phase, which will begin in our South West region and roll out across the estate. Our key aim is to ensure that our licensees are not disrupted in any way and can confidently continue to focus on their businesses during the crossover period,” said Eyles.
