The Lady Ottoline comprises a ground-floor pub and two first-floor dining rooms, with British cooking courtesy of head chef Shaun O’Rouke, who previously worked at The Princess of Shoreditch.
“We are very excited about opening The Lady Ottoline,” said Hunter and Larsen. “We fell in love with the pub as soon as we saw it and felt we could turn it into something really special.”
The pair has once again worked closely with designers Olly Simpson and Concorde BGW to restore the Victorian building.
“We’ve been as sympathetic to the building as possible refurbishing as many original features as we could whilst ensuring we will have the atmosphere we’ve become known for at The Princess of Shoreditch.”
The bar offers a selection of English ales with four on tap and a preference for local breweries as well as a wine list with over one hundred bins. It has space for 38 covers, with a menu including classics such as Chart Farm venison shank pie, fish and chips and bangers and mash.
Sample dishes
The 40-cover first-floor dining room is catered towards special occasions, with sample dishes including a roasted rack of Blackface lamb, Kilravock Farm pork belly and black pudding croquette. Desserts include sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce and warm chocolate fondant.
The small dining room can seat up to twenty covers with a banqueting menu including pot roasted whole suckling pig served in its juices with roasted vegetables, stovies and caramelised apples and 24-hour braised whole haunch of Chart Farm venison.
Following the success of The Princess of Shoreditch, winner of Time Out Best New Gastropub 2010, Hunter and Larsen added: “Our aim for The Lady Ottoline is the same as for The Princess to be the best pub in the area and real alternative to local upmarket restaurants but without the price tag.”
The Lady Ottoline is situated at 11a Northington Street and is open Monday to Saturday.
