The Ivy former chef opens first solo venture

Ed Shaerf, a former chef at The Ivy, has officially opened his first solo project, One Blenheim Terrace.

The 48-cover restaurant in St John’s Wood will serve classic British dishes and is managed by Max Palmer, who has previously worked with Marco Pierre White and Heston Blumenthal.

Jamie Evans takes the position of assistant manager, while Stuart White, who has previously worked alongside Shaerf, joins him once again in the kitchen as sous chef.

“We are revitalising the food of yesteryear,” said Shaerf. “By stripping back classic favourites, staples on British menus, in an imaginative way, which are then presented with style, cheek and chic. We are serious about food, but it is still fun and flirty with a hint of razzle-dazzle.”

Examples of Shaerf’s dishes include Duck à l’Orange, priced at £19.50, and the Cucumber Sandwich Dessert at £5.95.

Quality is paramount

“The quality of our dishes is paramount,” added Shaerf. “And we certainly put the hours in, sometimes 18 per day, to make sure our guests leave One Blenheim Terrace with smiles on their faces”

David Moore, owner of Pied à Terre and L’Autre Pied, is also a consultant in Shaerf’s first venture.

“The setting is superb, and I can see this very much being a favourite in the St John’s Wood area as well as appealing to diners across the city,” said Moore. “With the right mix of quality, determination and service, Ed has the opportunity to put One Blenheim Terrace firmly as a destination on diners’ maps.”

One Blenheim Terrace is open for lunch Wed – Sun 12.30 to 15.30, and dinner Tues – Sat 18.30 to 22.30, and opens for Sunday Brunch from 2 October. An additional terrace area provides space for up to 20 people.
