Sheffield Park Hotel to become DoubleTree by Hilton

The 95-bedroom Sheffield Park hotel is to become a DoubleTree by Hilton, the ninth UK hotel opened under the DoubleTree brand.

Located on the outskirts of Sheffield and with close access to walking hotspots in the Peak District, the hotel has four AA stars and has undergone ‘significant refurbishment’, Hilton said.

Guest rooms, suites and executive accommodation include laptop safe, 37-inch flatscreen TVs and high-speed internet, with complimentary wireless internet access available in all public areas during the day. Additional guest facilities include a health club, beauty spa and swimming pool.

With around 8,500 square feet available for meeting and events, the hotel can also accommodate functions for up to 500 guests, including a 4,200 suite with a pre-function reception area.

Meanwhile, the Piano Restaurant and Bar within the hotel has an AA Rosette, offering ‘contemporary European cuisine with a classical twist’, using locally sourced food.

The opening is the second by the brand in the UK in 2011, which saw a new hotel open its doors in London’s West End in the spring. Two further Doubletree openings are planned for the coming months, in Lincoln and Newcastle.

Rob Palleschi, global head of DoubleTree by Hilton, said: “With nine hotels now open across the UK and two more locations scheduled to open in the coming months in Lincoln and Newcastle, the DoubleTree by Hilton Sheffield Park represents another fine example of how we continue to expand our geographical presence across the UK and around the world.”

First introduced to Europe in 2008, the DoubleTree by Hilton brand now operates in 23 hotels in ten countries across Europe, as part of a larger 250-hotel portfolio across the world.

Steve Whittaker, general manager, DoubleTree by Hilton Sheffield Park, said: “The hotel has proudly been an important part of the Sheffield community over the years. We are dedicated to carrying on this legacy as the DoubleTree by Hilton Sheffield Park by creating a rewarding experience with our warm and welcoming style of hospitality for the world’s travellers.”
