Eight Young National Chef of the Year 2011 finalists named

Eight young finalists for the 2011 Young National Chef of the Year award have been named, and will now go forward to compete for the title at The Restaurant Show, Earls Court 2, on 11 October.

Organised by the Craft Guild of Chefs, the competition seeks to find the UK’s best young chef aged 18-23 from across the hospitality industry.

As well as receiving the title of Young National Chef of the Year 2011, the winner will get a five-day trip to the Emirates Hospitality Academy in Dubai, courtesy of Churchill China, including three days’ work experience at different Jumeirah venues; plus a Chef Skills Advanced Weekend at Ashburton Cookery School in Devon.

The final, which will see all eight contestant compete in a live cook off, will take place on the same day as the senior National Chef of the Year competition at The Restaurant Show’s (10-12 October) Live Competition Theatre.

Also taking place at the Competition Theatre during the show will be the Champagne Jacquart Rising Stars (10 October) and Compass Junior and Senior Chef of the Year (12 October). The show will also see over 20 leading chefs from around the world showcase their skills at the show’s Centre Stage.
