The company, which will be headed up by former Admirable Crichton head chef Mike Dewing, will enable D&D London to cater at events outside its own restaurants while using the expertise of the restaurant group's staff.
"I look forward to building a brand new business whilst taking advantage of the fantastic D&D London team of renowned chefs, award winning sommeliers and top mixologists, not to mention numerous spectacular wine stocks," said Dewing.
Dewing, who joined the group in July to build up the company, will be joined by Marina Souter of Rhubarb Food Design, the company which last month announced it would be working with Heston Blumenthal for its events catering.
Chris Yates joins Cinnamon Candy as general manager while Anna Hedges has been appointed sales director and Emily Holl senior events executive.
Natural progression
D&D London managing director David Loewi said Cinnamon Candy was a 'natural progression' for the business which currently operates 32 restaurants in London, Paris, Copenhagen and Tokyo.
“This is an exciting new development for D&D London and a natural progression from the current offering. We have some fabulous talent within the group, on whose expertise we hope to draw, in order to offer a very individual events experience.”
Loewi said clients will be able to book its chefs from its restaurants, such as Mickael Weiss of Coq d’Argent or Allan Pickett of Plateau, to provide menus or request particular dishes or cocktails if they wanted for their event, which could cater for as little as 12 people or for hundreds at larger scale affairs.
"Whether it’s a favourite cocktail from Skylon or one of Launceston Place Head Chef, Tristan Welch’s signature dishes, customers can take inspiration from their favourite restaurant and Cinnamon Candy will have the resources to exactly recreate the vision, adding its own distinctive touch," he said.
Events catering
The number of restaurants and chefs moving into events catering has grown considerably over the last year as operators look at ways to expand their business.
Jamie Oliver launched an outside catering company called Jamie Oliver's Fabulous Feasts last May while Heston Blumenthal announced plans to work with established events caterer Rhubarb to help it with its offering.
London Indian restaurants Tamarind and Cinnamon Club have also been chosen to supply hospitality and catering at events at Lord's Cricket Ground.
