Developed in conjunction with skills council People 1st, BII's new Apprenticeship in Licensed Hospitality will be open to anyone over the age of 16 who is not in full time education.
Anyone who wants to work in any licensed premises - from pubs and clubs to hotels and restaurants - is eligible to take the apprenticeship and it can be used by employers with existing employees, new recruits or by individuals looking at their long term career prospects.
Qualifications
All training and qualifications that staff need to work in the industry will be consolidated into an award which will be acknowledged across the industry and in wider workforce training.
Funded by the BII's awarding body BIIAB, the scheme will also help match apprentices to businesses across the country.
More information on the scheme will be available at the launch event from 5pm on 16 August 2011 at the Grand Connaught Rooms, London. Entry is free but places must be registered by emailing Claire Butler of the BII first at claireb@bii.org.
