Owners and operators Akkeron Hotels, who had purchased the property as part of the New Forest based Forestdale Hotels at the end of 2010, said they are now looking to sell it as a trading business.
Akkeron says the hotel is “profitable” but has decided to sell the business as it is now “surplus to Akkeron Hotel’s future plans”.
Southampton Park Hotel
The property, which is being sold freehold, includes 72 bedrooms, a leisure club with a swimming pool and gym, as well as a private members’ club that currently has around 250 members.
The hotel, which is rated with 3 AA stars, also has conferencing and banqueting facilities, which are said to attract “excellent” mid-week corporate occupancy as well as weekend leisure and tourist trade.
Property agents Christie + Co, who are marketing the hotel on behalf of Akkeron, say they are inviting offers of over £3m.
Invest in potential
Ed Bellfield, Director of Christie + Co, said: “Southampton Park Hotel represents an excellent opportunity for a forward-thinking individual or experienced operator prepared to invest in its potential. There are real opportunities to grow both turnover and profit from this enviably located business.”
The hotel overlooks Watts Park in Southampton, with quick access to the Civic Centre and the main retail area, including West Quay Shopping Centre. It is also near the harbour attractions and port, where Europe’s largest on-water boat show takes place every September.
