Iberica to open 2nd tapas site in Canary Wharf

The second Iberica Food and Culture site is set to open in Canary Wharf later this year, and will include two kitchens, a take-away and delivery service and a wine custody service.

Located at 10 Cabot Square, the new site is due to open in the autumn and will serve the same Spanish cuisine as the original venue, under the guidance of executive chef Nacho Manzano.

The venue will include two private dining rooms for 30 and 50 guests, as well as a 120-cover terrace with its own allocated kitchen.

Menu

The menu of tapas is designed to mix both traditional and modern elements of Spanish gastronomy, designed by both Manzano and his protégé, Cesar Garcia, who will lead the day to day running of the kitchen at the new Canary Wharf site.

Dishes include classics such as Jamon Iberico as well as Manzano’s Iberica Burger with Secreto Pork Loin and Piparras Peppers, or Fried Chorizo Lollypops with Pear Alioli and Fried Monkfish ‘Pixin’ in Olive Oil with Lemon.

“For me, for Spanish cooking, the tastes and flavours of the dish rely on sourcing the best possible ingredients,” said Manzano. “It’s really exciting for Iberica, as there is such great produce here in the British Isles and together with what we use from Spain, we get great results.”

A range of dishes and Bocadillos – hand carved Jamon Serrano baguettes – will be served for guests to take away, and for larger orders will be delivered anywhere within the Canary Wharf Estate.

Design

The new restaurant will have a ‘modern converted warehouse’ design, set by Lazaro Rosa Violan from Barcelona-based Contemporain Studio.

“The design concept will incorporate Violan’s ethos where design, lighting, ambiance and food work together to make a coherent whole,” said Iberica.

Design features will include high ceilings, exposed brick, and a kitchen visible from the main dining area. Other features will include ‘plush’ leather seating, textured wood and painted Spanish floor tiles.

Wine, beer and cocktails

Iberica Canary Wharf will serve a similar range of wines and beers to the original site in Great Portland Street, including boutique wines only available in the UK through Iberica Food and Culture.

However, the new site will also add a Wine Custody Service, where patrons will be able to lease their personal space in the restaurant’s cellar in order to store the wines that they purchase from Iberica.

Spanish cocktails will also be on the menu, including both alcoholic and non-alcoholic varieties.
