Good Food Guide reveals shortlist for 2011 Restaurant of the Year award

Ten regional winners have been announced by the Good Food Guide for its Restaurant of the Year Awards, as voted for by diners and expert judges.

Over 27,500 diners nominated their favourite independently-run restaurant in the UK, before a shortlist was drawn up by a Good Food Guide panel of judges.

To qualify, the restaurants must offer regional or local produce where possible and deliver consistently excellent food and service.

Elizabeth Carter, consultant editor of The Good Food Guide, said: “Championing great restaurants is at the very heart of what we do - we love to celebrate excellent food and service. We are thrilled to announce such a strong field of regional winners in our Restaurant of the Year Awards today, all of whom demonstrate what a flourishing culinary scene we have right across the UK.”

Last year’s winner was The Swan at Southrop, which was described as going “the extra mile for its customers” and being “the kind of place we all want at the end of our street”.

The overall winner of the awards will be named on 23 June.
