The course modules, which will be available from 1 August, have been piloted by some of the larger pub groups for some time, but BII aims to make them available to companies that do not wish to run the training themselves.
The six month programme will lead to a nationally accredited qualification, the BIIAB Level 4 Certificate in Multiple Retail Management, developed in collaboration with senior industry figures.
Pub operation standards
Neil Robertson, BII’s CEO said: “This is a ground-breaking development for the industry which will make a huge difference to the relationships between BDMs and their licensee networks.
“We urge companies to engage fully in the process, which, as well as making good business sense, will also contribute to a much higher standard of operational excellence.
“BII will be there every step of the way to ensure that all stakeholders achieve maximum value out of their investment in this training.”
Training modules
The training will be split into four stages, and will take seven full days of training to complete, with an additional day required for assessment.
Modules will include: people and management; financials and business planning; and roles and responsibilities of the business development manager in relation to the pub industry’s Code of Practice.
The course will run in five locations throughout the country, and is priced at £1,500, which includes materials, tutoring and coaching.
