Nigel Haworth and Craig Bancroft’s Ribble Valley Inns is inviting customers to Bring Your Own (BYO) bottle of wine in a bid to give diners more options. Diners can bring their own special bottle of wine to the table for a £10 corkage fee. The group is also offering a new “beer bat” experience, where for £3.20 customers are given a third pint taster of three different beers to taste.
Tuscany trip giveaway
Locale restaurant group is teaming up with Birra Moretti to give away a foodie trip for two to Tuscany. Running from 15 May to 15 August, the competition will see two winners receive complimentary flights, accommodation, and two days at the Toscana cookery school. Entries must be made through forms available at Locale’s five restaurants in Balham, Blackheath, County Hall, East Dulwich and Fulham, or via the Locale Facebook page. Winners will be chosen at random at the end of August.
Design a Prezzo pasta dish
New honorary Prezzo member Aldo Zilli has launched a competition to find a “Super Chef” to create a new pasta dish that will feature on the Italian restaurant chain’s menu. Along with Prezzo chief executive Paul Lewis, Zilli will judge recipes designed by budding chefs, before inviting finalists to London for a live cook-off. The winner will also win a three-day trip to Zilli’s cookery school in Abruzzo, Italy, and a one-to-one masterclass with the chef in London. Deadline for entries is 23 May.
Wine masterclass
Wine bar and restaurant 28-50, owned by Aggi Sverison and Xavier Rousset, the pair behind Texture, is holding a wine workshop with the master sommelier from Jackson Family Estate in California. Dimitri Mesnard will share his knowledge and experience of California Wines from his extensive travels through a five-wine flight, costing £25 per person. The City-based bar will also be joined by Ruud, owner and winemaker of Staete Landt Winery in Marlborough, New Zealand for a special wine dinner featuring four Staete Landt wines and three matching courses for £45.
