Michelin starred chef Sriram Aylur to open cricket ground pop-up
Set at the Kia Oval in the Montpelier Club, the pop-up will run from June to September, to coincide with the international cricket match days.
Aylur, whose restaurant The Quilon in Victoria will be closed for refurbishment during the summer, said the menu at his new venture will complement the rivalry of Indian and England on the cricket match.
“The Montpelier Club is steeped in English history and has one of the best reputations for hospitality in the industry. At The Quilon we strive to serve the best Indian food in the world, so this partnership is a great tribute to the connections of the past and a celebration of the marriage of the cultures for the future,” he said.
“The menu I have created is perfect for the setting and is a real addition to the quality and luxury offer at the club. The members are going to enjoy it very much”.
Menu
The menu will include dishes such as Lobster with Mango and Ginger; Supreme of Guinea Fowl Braised with Onion, Green Chilli, Cardamom and Coconut; Lamb Slow Cooked with Freshly Ground Pistachio, and Chillies and Spices. All dishes will be matched with wine or champagne.
The pop-up will run from Tues 28 June with One Day International England v Sri Lanka and close on Fri 9 September with the One Day International England v India.
Alec Stewart, Montpelier Club Ambassador said: “Enjoying a game of cricket is as much about the surroundings as the state of the play. At the Montpelier we need to make sure that our members are able to enjoy the best fine dining experiences during International match days.
“To get a Michelin starred chef like Sriram running the kitchen will only underline what is one of the great experiences in World cricket.”
