The funds, which will go towards helping disadvantaged youngsters make their mark in the sector, were raised by 23 participants from the hospitality industry.
Trekkers braved over 25,000 steps and sheer drops to complete their mission. “We had a six month training programme before going out there, but nothing could have prepared us for the actual trek,” explained Lorraine Wood, director of the hospitality networking group Arena, who was sponsored in her trek by BigHospitality.
“The big thing that stands out for me is the support and camaraderie of the people that took part – I couldn’t have got through it without them. It’s amazing that Springboard have brought together this group of people who will remain lifelong friends but at the same time have raised so much money for Springboard’s cause,” she said.
Elaine Marshall, BigHospitality executive director, said: “Springboard’s activities are crucial to the growth and survival of our industry. By helping disadvantaged youngsters get a foot on the ladder of hospitality, they’re also creating the building blocks for a stronger skills force moving forward.
“Congratulations to Lorraine and all the participants in Springboard’s China trek!”
Other trekkers were from 3663, Dewberry Redpoint, Hit Training, Lancaster London, Booker, Compass, Core Recruitment, Sharwoods, Talkington Bates, DRP Group, Gauntlet Insurancei, SSP UK, Elior, The Flour Station, Sodexo, and Lester Hotels.

“We rely on the people working for the hospitality and leisure industry to make their contribution and change people’s lives,” said Springboard.
“With youth unemployment at an all -time high and rising, coupled with the tough economic climate, there has never been a more important time to support Springboard.”
The charity is this year reaching its 21st anniversary, and will be holding an anniversary fundraising party on 17 June at the Grosvenor House on London Park Lane. The event will include a reception, gala dinner and surprise guests and entertainment.
