Tasty secures 9th site for Wildwood restaurant in Canary Wharf
The new venue at Jubilee Place will be the ninth unit for Wildwood, which is run by the restaurant operator Tasty.
Tasty has secured a 15 year lease on the Canary Wharf site, a 3,100 sq ft unit formerly trading as the Indian restaurant Tiffinbites. The restaurant was handed back to the landlords for a “significant six figure sum”.
Tasty is reportedly looking for more sites for its Wildwood chain, which it considers to be one its core brands for future growth. The group also owns the oriental chain Dim T.
Wildwood expansion
Real estate brokers Cushman & Wakefield, who acted for Tasty on this acquisition, said Tasty is “urgently” seeking other sites in London and the South East.
“Hopefully there will be many more acquisitions over the coming months," said the group’s associate partner Thomas Rose.
Brandon Elmon, at Davis Coffer Lyons who brokered the current deal said: “It is not easy for groups like this at the moment to find key sites in many London areas but a number of private mid-market restaurant companies like Wildwood in particular are continuing to expand aggressively in 2011 against a continual influx of new concepts looking for space.”
Wildwood currently operates other sites in Billericay, Chelmsford, Cobham, Gerrards Cross, Gloucester Road, Hornchurch, Loughton, and Maidstone.
The Wildwood concept is based upon a medley of freshly grilled food, pastas and stone-baked pizzas.
