Marathon fuel at Wahaca and free burritos at Chilango

Restaurants, pubs and hotels including Wahaca and Chilango tell us what promotions they’re running to attract customers.

Marathon fuel

Mexican restaurant chain Wahaca is giving supporters of the London Marathon fuel to carry on cheering with free tortilla chips with guacamole or salsa when they come in to eat at its Canary Wharf site on 17 April. Wahaca is also touting its terrace bar as the perfect location to watch the marathon unfold as runners pass through miles 18 and 19.

Brighton Food Fest

Brighton chefs including Dino Pavledis from Terre a Terre, Sam Metcalfe from Sam’s of Brighton and Andy MacKenzie from The Restaurant at Drakes, are hosting a live food show and four-course lunch as part of the Brighton Food Festival this month. The chefs will each host a cookery demonstration in the Cooking Theatre at Radisson Blu Hotel, before guests are invited to site down to lunch where each course will have been prepared by a different chef. A patisserie demonstration from Cocoa will also occur following the meal.

Free burritos

In celebration of its fifth restaurant opening on Chancery Lane on 5 May, which coincides with Mexican holiday Cinco de Mayo, fast-casual restaurant chain Chilango is giving away free burritos all day. Owners Eric Partaker and Dan Houghton will host an all-day Mexican fiesta at the 36-cover venue, with live music played throughout the afternoon and evening.

Odeur de hotel

Sofitel hotels has announced a global partnership with L’Artisan Parfumeur, to create a range of interior fragrances and scented objects to dot around its properties. More than half the hotels in the Sofitel group have chosen a signature scent, including Cèdre Bleu at the Sofitel Chicago Water Tower (United States), Mimosa Marin at the Sofitel Marseille Vieux Port (France) and Bois d’Orient at the Sofitel Shanghai Sheshan (China). Sofitel aims to have all hotels in its network “on scent” by the end of 2011.
