Torridon hotel named Scottish Hotel of the Year 2011
The Scottish Hotel Awards, which are now in their 8th year, aim to recognise “exceptional achievement” in the Scottish hotel industry.
Held on 27 March, the awards this year included almost 180 categories, recognising a range of hotel services, including design, management, welcome, reception, housekeeping, dining, events and facilities, and general ‘excellence’.
Nominations for the awards, which were recently described by First Minister Alex Salmond as being “the flagship awards for the hotel industry”, take place throughout the year with thousands of people both inside and outside the industry voting for their chosen winners.
Selection of winners
Glenapp Castle in Ayrshire was named Romantic Hotel of the Year, Inverlochy Castle Hotel won Luxury Hotel of the Year, and Hotel Missoni Edinburgh won Boutique Hotel of the Year.
Scottish Business Hotel of the Year went to Mint Hotel Glasgow, Scottish Budget Hotel of the Year went to Holiday Inn Express Dundee, Scottish New Hotel of the Year went to CitizenM Glasgow, and Pub with Rooms of the Year went to Inverbeg Inn near Loch Lomond.
Chef of the Year was Gary Goldie from Ardanaiseig Hotel on the west coast of Scotland, while Restaurant of the Year went to Chez Rouz at Greywalls.
Jurys Inns bagged both Green Hotel of the Year and Green Hotel Group of the Year.
