Thai New Year party at Mango Tree and water throwing at Street Thai

Thai New Year Party​

London’s Thai restaurant Mango Tree will be celebrating the Thai New Year with a week-long party from 10-17 April. An evening of entertainment, including traditional dancing, cooking demonstrations and Thai massages will be held on 10 and 14 April. On all other dates a three-course set menu costing £40 per head will be available.

Water rituals​

Also celebrating Thai New Year is Brighton restaurant Street Thai, which will welcome a host of Thai Buddhist monks on 13 April to bring health and prosperity to its diners. The restaurant will also embrace the most popular ritual during Thai New Year, or Songkran – the throwing of water. Although full on water fights are not promised, despite the flowing water fountain in the square outside, Street Thai will offer the cleansing ritual of washing guests hands with blessed water. Traditional Thai dancers will also be on hand to provide entertainment and hand out food samples.

Spag Weds Pop Up​

Newly-opened Italian-New York eatery Spuntino, is to visit Andrew’s in West London with a Young and Foodish Spag Wednesday Meatball Pop-Up. Spuntino’s head chef and group head chef Rachel O’Sullivan and Tom Oldroyd will be serving chopped salad, meatballs, tomato sauce and spaghettini and Wild Turkey bourbon brownies at the 1950’s greasy spoon. Three overlapping sessions will be available at the pop-up, at 7pm, 7:45pm and 8:30pm.

Cask Ale Festival​

Young’s Pubs will be showcasing twelve regional beers from across the UK in its annual British Cask Ale Festival on 21 April – 2 May. Beers including Cornwall’s Cornish Coaster and Twickenham’s Naked Ladies will be available to try, as well as the new Prince of Ales, which has been launched specially to mark the Royal Wedding between Prince William and Kate Middleton. Young’s is also offering drinkers a taster paddle of three beers for just £3.
