World’s most ethical hotel companies named
The World’s Most Ethical Companies 2011, organised by Ethisphere, recognises those businesses that have leading ethics and compliance programs compared to their industry peers.
A team of university professors, government officials and industry leaders scored companies on the basis of a submitted application plus additional information gathered by Ethisphere throughout the year.
Semi finalists then had to fill out a questionnaire regarding their corporate responsibility and ethics, before being measured against seven targets: Corporate Citizenship and Responsibility; Corporate Governance; Innovation that Contributes to the Public Well Being; Industry leadership; Executive Leadership and Tone from the Top; Legal, Regulatory and Reputation Track Record; and Internal Systems and Ethics/Compliance Program.
After first making the list in 2010, Kurt Ritter, president and chief executive of Rezidor, which operates the Radisson Blu and Park Inn brands, said: “We defended our rank by further going the extra mile and by working with upright business practices which support our own success, bring benefit to the community and raise the bar for ethical standards within the industry.”
The news follows the VisitEngland launch of a new guide to the greenest hotels and restaurants in London, which features the Wyndham Grand and Marriott Hotel Marble Arch.
American group Kimpton Hotels, which operates 55 hotels throughout the US, was also named as one of the World’s Most Ethical Hotel Companies.
