Antique dining at Roux at the Landau, and Iberico Pork at Opera Tavern

Restaurants, pubs and hotels including Roux at the Landau and Opera Tavern tell us what promotions they’re running to attract customers.

Dining off antiques

Michel Roux Jr has teamed up with Ronald Phillips antiques in Mayfair to present an exclusive dinner at Roux at the Landau using priceless antiques and a silver service worth more than £75k. Antiques from the 18th and 19th centuries worth £3m will fill every corner of the restaurants private dining room, while diners are served a four-course menu based on dishes served at the Langham during the 1800s. The dinner will be hosted on 30 March for just 20 guests, and held in aid of London charity the Dispossessed Fund.

Corrigan’s fish master class

Chef Richard Corrigan is to host a series of fish master classes at Bentley’s Oyster Bar & Grill near Piccadilly. Taking place on 26 March, 14 May and 8 October, the master classes will demonstrate skills such as fish filleting, oyster shucking and lobster preparation, and include a lunch featuring dishes mastered on the course. The one day classes are priced at £295 per person.

Iberico – by invite only

Newly opened Covent Garden restaurant Opera Tavern is hosting its first food and wine lunch on 27 March, with Iberico pork the main focus. The seven course Sunday lunch is by invitation only for just 38 guests, and will take place in the restaurant’s first floor dining room. Head chef Ben Tish will create a range of dishes showcasing the unique flavour of the Iberian black-footed pig, including Ibérico Pork Terrine with Confit Winter Vegetables spiced with Star Anise, and Homemade Ibérico Morcilla with Butter Beans Roasted Jerusalem Artichoke and Thyme.

Flipping Pancake Record

Aldo Zilli is currently the Guinness World Record Holder for flipping a pancake 117 times in one minute, and is challenging Londoners to break the record at his Zilli Fish restaurant in Soho on Pancake Day (8 March). Zilli has invited several celebrity chefs and regulars to attempt to break the record, which will be overseen by the Guinness Book of Records. Anyone who breaks the title will be given a free pancake lunch for two.
