Soho House goes west with Pizza East

Soho House Group, the bar, restaurant and private members club company owned by Richard Caring and headed by Nick Jones, has acquired a second site in London for its pizzeria concept, Pizza East.

The company has acquired the leasehold interest of The Fat Badger on London’s Portobello Road in Notting Hill.

The Fat Badger comprises a three-storey end-terrace property, for which offers were sought at an asking price of £125k, on the remainder of a 25 year lease which has 20 years remaining and a passing rent of £65k per annum.

It will now open as a west London accompaniment to the Soho House Group’s Pizza East concept in Shoreditch, which opened in October 2009.

It is uncertain whether the concept will offer the option to take away or feature an Italian-American Deli section, in concurrence with the original site in Shoreditch.

Chris Bickle from property advisor Davis Coffer Lyons, which acted on behalf of the private vendors, said: “The site has a really excellent location close to Ladbroke Grove and Notting Hill, which has a classic melting pot of cultures making it a very unique part of London.

“The Soho House Pizza East concept has been incredibly popular in the East End, and the restaurant’s eclectic style will provide a really welcome setting for the clientele that this area also attracts.”
