The Grove hotel in Hertfordshire has joined the Great Hotels of the World collection, becoming part of a club of some of the world’s most luxurious brands.

Set in 300 acres of parkland and landscaped gardens, The Grove is one of the five latest additions to the Luxury Collection of the sales and marketing group Great Hotels of the World (GHOTW).

GHOTW splits membership into three tiers: the Luxury Collection, the Premium Collection and the Classic Collection. Membership is by invitation only, and hotels must meet strict criteria to be invited.

As well as welcoming hotels into its elite family, the group provides a range of sales and marketing services and business support and advice.

The Grove joins a host of other British hotels such as The Landmark London, Gleneagles in Scotland and The Bath Priory in the collection.

The hotel, which is the former home of the Earl of Clarendon, has been recently refurbished to blend both classic with contemporary styles.

It has 215 bedrooms and 12 suites that are decorated with marble fireplaces, chandeliers, white-lacquered Sycamore furniture and suede and silk furnishings. It also offers extensive business facilities as well as a range of sporting venues, including a golf course, tennis courts, and outdoor swimming pool and a health and leisure club.

The other hotels to become the latest members of GHOTW’s Luxury Collection are: Mantra Samui Resort and Spa, Koh Samui, Thailand; Hotel Hesperia, Madrid, Spain; Altis Hotel, Lisbon and Altis Prime, Lisbon, Portugal; and AR Diamante Beach Spa Hotel & Convention Centre, Calpe, Spain.
