Facebook launched their Places feature last year, which allows users to share their location with friends by “checking in” to bars, restaurants and shops, and to see which friends are nearby.
Now the internet giant has launched its Deals feature in the UK, users will be able to access thousands of discounts, rewards, offers and loyalty deals at any time, and then share those deals with friends.

YO! Sushi’s first Facebook Deal, which launches today, will see the conveyor belt restaurant chain give away 2,000 meals to the value of £60,000.
The first 1000 diners that check in with a friend at Facebook Places using their smart phone at any one of YO! Sushi’s 47 participating UK restaurants and show a member of staff their phone screen, will win 5 free plates of any colour plus a drink each.
Robin Rowland, chief executive of YO! Sushi, said its constant aim to innovate drove the decision behind joining Facebook Deals.
“We are always keen to work with like-minded brands, so being the only restaurant involved in the launch of Facebook Places in the UK is a real endorsement of the YO! Sushi brand. Our customers are the most technologically savvy in our sector so this deal will really turn them on.
“Plus, the opportunity to potentially reach over 26 million active Facebook users in the UK is unbelievably exciting.”
Joanna Shields, vice president of EMEA at Facebook, said: “With the announcement of Deals, we’re moving the conversation from the web to the store by linking online conversations to offline foot traffic. And because people see what their friends do on Facebook, Deals helps businesses become even more social as people will see deals through the people who matter most - their friends.”
