The Maybourne Hotel Group has appointed a new general manager for its Mayfair hotel Claridge’s.

Thomas Kochs, who has worked for Maybourne since 2001, has been promoted from his previous position as hotel manager at Claridge’s, a role he has held for the past two years.

Having also worked at Maybourne’s other London properties, The Berkeley and The Connaught, Kochs replaces Philippe Leboeuf as general manager, and will now work to establish Claridges as “one of the greatest hotels in the world”.

Stephen Alden, chief executive of Maybourne Hotel Group, said: “Thomas has proven himself to be an exceptionally talented hotelier, having gained valuable experience in all elements of the hotel industry. He is particularly well equipped to face the business challenges of 2011 and beyond with his strong sense of creativity, dynamic ability to motivate a team and build loyal relationships with guests.

“I am particularly proud that Thomas’ career has been nurtured and developed within the hotels of Maybourne Hotel Group.”

Crown Hotels & Restaurants

Meanwhile Crown Hotels and Restaurants has appointed a new general manager to replace current Restaurant Manager of the Year David Hennigan.

Shaun Corrigan replaces Hennigan who, after three years in the role, is emigrating to New Zealand.

Corrigan joins the Crown group from the Grand Hotel in Jersey, where he held the position of restaurants manager.

He will now oversee the Crown group’s two South Wales properties, the Michelin-starred Crown at Whitebrook near Monmouth, and the Crown at Celtic Manor Resort.
