Living Ventures launches new Manchester bar
The addition follows the group's recent acquisition of the lion’s share of the restaurant portfolio of chef-restaurateur Paul Heathcote, where the former two Michelin-starred chef sold five of his nine remaining restaurants for an undisclosed sum.
These included three Olive Press sites in Manchester, Liverpool and Cheadle Hulme as well as Grado in Manchester and London Road in Alderley Edge.
The Alchemist
Tim Bacon, co-founder of Living Ventures along with Jeremy Roberts, told the Manchester Evening News: “When we did The Living Room it was quite different for Manchester. It took the industry and the market, by storm and since then there’s been a million and one different copy cats.
“And what we’re looking to do with The Alchemist is to take it to another level again. It’s a bar with food, it has principles of a pub in the sense that it’s a “third place” mentality, it’s there to be used by people on a regular basis.
“You’ve got your work, you’ve got your home and the ‘third place’ is the place where you entertain. I like the principles of that, to be very much part of people’s life as opposed to a special event.”
Living Ventures also operate the Gusto, Blackhouse Grill and Est Est Est brands.
