Michelin-starred meals for £1

To help consumers swallow the Government’s spending cuts, Von Essen is offering guests a Michelin-starred meal for just £1 when they book a two-night stay at one of their Michelin-starred hotels this winter. Mark Teasdale at Sharrow Bay in Cumbria, Shane Hughes at Ynyshir Hall in Wales and Nigel Mendham at The Samling in Cumbria have created a handful of cost-cutting dishes such as Twice-baked Stilton Souffle, Chicken Bacon and Leek Risotto, and Bramley Apple Crumble with Handpicked Blackberries and Crème Fraiche. The offer is available until 31 March 2011 when “Michelin star extravaganza” is quoted during booking.

Local Game Week

The Rattlebone Inn in Sherston is holding a Game Week from 15-20 November in celebration of National Taste of Game Fortnight. The 16th century village pub will use only locally-sourced, free range meat, including rabbit, venison and wild boar. Specials will include Roast Partridge with Smoked Bacon, Bread Sauce and Rich Game Gravy; Cotswold Rabbit Pie with a local Cheese Crust; and Spaghetti with Wild Boar Ragout and Parmesan.

An American celebration

American diners staying at Park Plaza Hotels and Resorts, that can either present their passport or sing the Star-Spangled Banner as proof of identity, will be given 25 per cent of their meal. The offer will be available at Park Plaza County Hall’s Spectrum Restaurant, Riverbank London’s Chino Latino Bar and Brasserie, Victoria London’s JB’s Restaurant, and Sherlock Holmes’ Sherlock’s Bar and Grill.

Contemporary Greek dishes

The Real Greek has enlisted the help of renowned Greek chef Aris Tsanaklidis to create seven new dishes for its new menu, which will launch on 15 November. The owner of the Kuzina restaurant chain in Greece will give diners in London a taste of contemporary Greek cuisine. The dishes include Bruschetta with Greek Style Salsa and Feta Mousse; Spicy Octopus; and Travithes Greek Pancakes with Honey.
