Chef John Burton-Race has teamed up with the Boisdale group of restaurants, where he will work alongside head chef at The Lamb at Hindon, Simon Harris

Burton-Race, who left the executive chef position at The New Angel in Dartmouth earlier this year, will work with Harris to develop the menu at the 17th century coaching inn, located in Wiltshire village near Salisbury.

At The Lamb he will serve daily specials of his own creation to complement the a la carte menu and the £29, three-course set menu already in place.

Changes at The New Angel

Burton-Race hit the national headlines several years ago by his appearances in the Channel 4 series ‘French Leave’ and the reality TV show ‘I’m a celebrity… Get Me Out of Here’.

Just days after he was booted off the show, his wife famously closed The New Angel restaurant, which they had purchased in 2005, causing it to go into administration.  The site was purchased by internet millionaire Clive Jacobs, and Burton-Race stayed on as executive chef until June this year.

The site was subsequently purchased by the 10 in 8 Fine Dining Group, headed up by chef Alan Murchison, which aims to operate 10 Michelin-starred restaurants within eight years.

The group plans to re-open the restaurant in January 2011 under a new name, with the aim of revitalizing the establishment.  However, the restaurant will not be taking back its old name – The Carved Angel – as expected.  Instead, the name will be chosen by the local population, who will enter name suggestions into a competition over the next four weeks.
