Peter Gordon to open second London fusion restaurant

Peter Gordon, world-renowned chef and co-owner of The Providores and Tapa Room in Marylebone, is to launch his second restaurant in London next month

Kopapa, a collaboration between The Providores co-owner Michael McGrath and the original founders of Gourmet Burger Kitchen Adam Wills and Brandon Allen, will open at Seven Dials in Covent Garden early next month.

The restaurant will take over the site previously operated as gay club The Box Bar, which was obtained by Wills last month for an undisclosed sum.

Kopapa will serve a similar fusion menu to The Providores, featuring dishes such as Turkish Poached Eggs with Whipped Yoghurt and Hot Chilli Butter; Seared Yellowfin Tuna with Nori Sauce, Dashi Jelly and Jicama Slaw; and New Zealand Lamb Chops on Smoked Sweet Potato Mash with Brasied Butter Beans and Pickled Garlic Tapenade.

Collaboration

“Michael and I have been good friends with Adam and Brandon for over 10 years and we’re looking forward to this new collaboration,” Gordon said.

“I’m thrilled to be able to offer the style of food we’ve been serving for the past nine years at The Providores in Marylebone to another favourite area of London.

“We’re excited to be bringing Kopapa to local residents, shoppers and tourists alike all eager for the innovative cuisine and friendly service we’re known for.”

Fusion design

Designed by Douglas Stewart, Kopapa’s interior will reflect Gordon’s use of global ingredients by featuring Turkish tiled floors and Autobahn-inspired bench seating.

Kopapa is the second restaurant owned by Gordon, although the world-renowned chef is also executive chef at Dine by Peter Gordon in Auckland, NZ, and is consultant chef at Changa and Muzedechanga in Istanbul and Bellota also in Auckland.
