Zizzi will be testing a new breakfast concept at some of its branches, with plans to introduce the new ‘Brunchetta’ menu across all sites next year if it proves to be a success.
The breakfast approach, which is also being tested by rival chain Pizza Express, aims to capture business from mid-morning snackers with mini sweet and savoury pizza bread.
“We want Brunchetta to be a really fun, relaxed meal for groups of friends and families, as well as a quick but satisfying option for busy workers,” said Helen Jones, managing director at Zizzi.
Five restaurants will be trialling the brunch menu, which will be served from 10am. These are: One New Change, Bluewater, Chelmsford, Maidstone and Leicester Highcross.
Menu
Zizzi’a Brunchetta menu includes a variety of mini pizza breads – or ‘pizzettes’ – all priced at £3.50.
Three savoury options are available: Fiorentina (spinach, mozzarella, egg); Salsicca (spicy sausage, mozzarella, sun dried tomato); and Pancetta (pancetta, tomato, mozzarella and egg).
The brunch menu also marks the first time Zizzi will be offering sweet pizzas, and will start with two new creations: Arancia (pizza topped with honey, pine nuts and orange); and Soldatti Dolce (crispy pizza breaddrizzled with honey and pine nuts and served with a hot chocolate dip).
Zizzi will be asking its customers to provide feedback on the brunch concept – particularly the new sweet pizzas – and if Brunchetta is a hit, the menu will be introduced in all 111 restaurants across the UK next year.
