Food group expands at ExCel London as Olympics approach

The food and drink firm Creativevents has added a new ‘healthy’ café to its catering facilities at the ExCel London convention centre, as part of its investment strategy leading up to the Olympic Games

The food and drink firm Creativevents has added a new ‘healthy’ café to its catering facilities at the ExCel London convention centre, as part of its investment strategy leading up to the Olympic Games.

The company, which now has 13 restaurants and café bars on site, said it is anticipating more customers to flood to the venue on the back of an increased focus on sports.

“With an increase in exhibitions and the Olympics around the corner we felt it was important to continue our investment programme into new catering sites alongside offering a wider choice of foods including healthier options,” said managing director of Creativevents, Adrian Willson.

“Our new sites at the venue will help support the surge in footfall expected at ExCel over the next few years especially in the build up to the Games.“

Fresh and local

The new café – Naturally Good – is situated close to the main entrance of ExCel.  It will sell items like handmade salads, jacket potatoes, fresh fruit, smoothies, juices, yogurts and sandwiches using locally sourced ingredients, artisan breads and free range beef.

Over the past three years, Creativevents has invested £1.6m in its catering facilitites at ExCel.

The latest addition to its portfolio at the site also includes a new kitchen for the existing The Boulevard Bar & Grill, designed to help support demand for more covers during the busier shows, as well as four quayside waterfront café bars with a total capacity of 1,200.
