Cobnut oil named Great Taste Champion

Hurstwood Farm’s Cold-pressed 100% Cobnut Oil has been named the Supreme Champion in this year’s Great Taste Awards

Hurstwood Farm’s Cold-pressed 100% Cobnut Oil has been named the Supreme Champion in this year’s Great Taste Awards.

The Kentish oil is the first commercially produced oil in the UK, and was judged by a panel of chefs and food critics to be the best of 6027 entries to the awards this year.

Similar to hazelnut or walnut oil, but with a more intense nutty flavour, cobnut oil is the product of drying, shelling and pressing the handpicked nuts. 1kg of which is needed to make just 250ml of oil.

The judges, which included Sat Bains, Bruno Loubet and Nic Watt, remarked that the oil is “excellent, magnificent and has a very clean length... simply a beautiful artisan product and a truly British product... Never has a pressed nut impressed so many.”
