Montcalm to open second London luxury hotel in 2011

Montcalm Hotels, the luxury hotel brand, has revealed plans to open a five-star hotel in the City of London next year, its second in the capital

The 235-bed hotel will be located within the confines of the Brewery event space in Chiswell Street and will cater for the Brewery’s conference delegates and business travellers as well as the short-break market.

The space is presently unoccupied, and work is scheduled to begin next month, with Montcalm set to open the hotel doors in June 2011.

The development will see the Grade II listed architecture of the current site married with the high-tech boutique approach of the Montcalm hotels. According to the Brewery, all the rooms will be king sized, with a range of suites designed specifically for business travellers, an on-site gym and spa and an all-day restaurant.

The Montcalm management team said in a statement: “The Chiswell Street location and relationship with the Brewery will no doubt attract a large number of business travellers and conference delegates looking for luxury accommodation in the heart of the city. The hotel will reflect the same exceptional design, advanced technology and person service as our Marble Arch based hotel.”

Montcalm, which the Brewery describes as offering ‘boutique design while preserving heritage values’, spent £30m in 2008 upgrading its four star Marble Arch site to a luxury boutique hotel.

Opened in December 2009, the 120-bedroom hotel near Hyde Park was completely redeveloped to add a further 15 rooms, a gym, spa, `signature` restaurant and contemporary bar.
