Vision Hotels, a new brand dedicated to serving the needs of blind and partially sighted people, has opened for business with four properties

Vision Hotels, a new brand dedicated to serving the needs of blind and partially sighted people, has opened for business with four properties.

The not-for-profit hotel group, run by charity Action for Blind People, runs Cliffden Hotel in Teignmouth, South Devon; Russell Manor in Aldwick, near Bognor Regis; Lauriston Hotel, Weston Super-Mare; and Windermere Manor, Lake Windermere.

Meeting the needs of the UK’s 10 million registered disabled people, the hotels feature straightforward adjustments such as wet rooms and textured surfaces, with talking alarm clocks, large button phones and areas for guide dogs throughout the group.

The hotel teams are responsible for making sure the environment remains accessible, with front of house staff guiding visitors and chefs being sensitive to the presentation of the food.

Accessibility constantly ignored

Paul Morrison, head of Vision Hotels, said: “Accessibility is continually ignored within the sector and we can prove that simple adaptations can make a difference and in turn, increase guest numbers.”

Action for Blind People is part of national charity the Royal National Institute of Blind People.
