Goodman steakhouse secures second London site

Goodman - the top-end steakhouse concept - has completed on a site in the City, its second in London

Goodman - the Russia-based top-end steakhouse concept - has completed on a site in the City, its second in London.

Scheduled to open late July, Goodman City will have a similar look and feel to the company’s inaugural London site on Maddox Street, Mayfair, which opened late 2008.

Designed again by LSM, the 125 cover operation will sport a classically-inspired interior with wood panelling, leather banquette seating, large bar and a feature meat-aging room visible from the restaurant floor.

Like its Mayfair-based older sister, the Goodman City menu will revolve around a large selection of high-quality steak cuts from the UK, USA, and Australia, supported by a range of contemporary starters, sides and desserts.

The opening will bring the number of Goodman restaurants worldwide to 12; nine in Russia, one in Kiev, Ukraine, and two in London.

Last London Goodman

Co-owner and director of the Group’s UK operations, George Bukhov, said that restaurant would be the group’s last site in the UK. “We've had fantastic success in London but we don’t want to create a big chain, we want to be exclusive,” he said.

Acting on behalf of the Russian-owned group, Shelley Sandzer identified and acquired the leasehold interest of 11 Old Jewry Street, a former office space.

Shelley Sandzer agent Nathan Wogman said: “Goodman Restaurants is a highly desirable tenant and was courted by many landlords in the City. Ultimately Old Jewry being in the heart of the City and close to Bank and other complementary restaurants meant that this was the ideal location.”
