The Lakeside Hotel in Cumbria, forced to close for business when floods struck the region in November last year, has re-opened following three months of restoration work.
The 76-bedroom former coaching inn, situated on the banks of Lake Windermere, had to cancel hundreds of bookings and conferences when water burst up through its ground floor rooms and kitchens.
Work has taken place on the hotel, a Special Hotels of the World member, to restore it to its former glory with an extra £250,000 spent on improving the decor upgrading rooms and bathrooms.
The floods which struck the Cumbrian town of Cockermouth and surrounding areas last year, caused millions of pounds worth of damage to homes and businesses, including a large number of pubs and hotels.
