Meals at some of the S.Pellegrino World's 50 Best Restaurants, due to be revealed next Monday, are to be put up for auction on ebay to help raise money for the event's charity partner Action Against Hunger (AAH).
Many of the meals up for grabs include exclusive extras such as private kitchen tours, bespoke tasting menus or signed cookbooks, with all funds raised going towards the charity's life-saving programmes worldwide.
The 2010 list of the world's top 50 restaurants will be unveiled at a ceremony at The Guildhall in London next Monday (26 April) attended by chefs and restaurateurs.
Lots allowing people to bid for meals at some of those restaurants making the list will be posted up onto auction site ebay the following day at www.myworld.ebay.co.uk/actionagainsthungeruk.
“The funds raised as part of the auction will help us respond quickly and effectively to emergency situations such as the recent earthquake in Haiti, where Action Against Hunger is currently providing drinking water and food to tens of thousands of survivors,” said AAH director, Jean Michel Grand. “I would like to thank all participating restaurants for their support.”
Last year, restaurants such as St John in the UK, Noma in Denmark and Mugaritz in Spain, were among those helping to raise thousands by donating meals to the charity for the auction.
BigHospitality will be reporting live from the event on 26 April. For all related news to the awards, including past lists, visit our S.Pellegrino World's 50 Best Restaurants page.
