Third Notting Hill Gate gastropub for Perritt & Perritt
Perritt & Perritt has launched its third gastropub in Notting Hill Gate today, after teaming up with former Hix chef Jesse Dunford Wood.
The Mall Tavern, located between The Ark and Kensington Place, is the third London venture for brothers Jonathon and Andy Perritt, who also operate The Stag in Hampstead and The Regent in Kensal Green.
Dunford Wood, formerly of Mark Hix’s eponymous Soho restaurant and the Oliver Peyton-run National Dining Rooms, has designed a hearty British menu for the gastropub, featuring dishes such as Cow pie, with a hunk of bone marrow replacing the horns; Macaroni Cheese with Smoked Bacon; Fish Fingers with Mushy Peas and Tartare Sauce; Portobello Mushroom; and Chicken Kiev with Hash Brown and Coleslaw.
The Mall Tavern bar, which will serve its own snack menu of ‘honest, nostalgic British’ food such as Pork Crackling with Bramley Apple Sauce, and Cauliflower Fritters with Curried Mayonnaise, will serve a number of cask ales and a diverse collection of whisky.
Designed in the same vein as The Stag and The Regent, the 100-cover Mall Tavern features reclaimed Victorian tables and chairs, Italian leather banquette seating, and a grand central wood bar that dominates the bar and dining room. A private dining room and outdoor seating is also available.
The Perritt brothers launched their first pub, The Regent in March 2007, before The Stag opened the following summer. The pair still have a hand in the day-to-day running of each site, and intend to continue their involvement with their third venture.
