Argentinean evenings at Peach and free burritos at Chilangos

Restaurants, hotels and pubs tell us what they're doing to make their business more appealing and draw in more trade

The hospitality industry may be about providing food, drink, accommodation and service, but sometimes you have to go the extra mile to pull customers in. If you’re stuck for ideas on how to make your business more appealing take a look at what others are doing for inspiration.

Argentinean steak and wine evenings

Peach has partnered with Wines of Argentina and the Argentine Beef Promotion Board to host a month of weekly steak and wine evenings across three of its pubs, The Fishes in Oxford, The Rose & Crown in Warwick and The Black Horse in Woburn. The event is the first ever showcase of Argentine produce in the UK outside of London, and features four wines from different regions of Argentina: a Crios Torrontes 2009 by Susana Balbo, a Felino Malbec 2008 by Viña Cobos, an Amauta from the family-owned El Porvenir winery and a Passo Doble Malbec Corvina by MASI. If successful, Peach will roll the concept out to the rest of the group.

Free burritos

To celebrate the launch of Chilangos at Bluewater shopping Centre this week, the Mexican quick-service restaurant chain is giving away free burrito vouchers to its Twitter followers (twitter.com/Chilango_uk). The chain is also due to launch its fifth restaurant in Brighton’s North Laines in May.

Rare summer supper clubs

Petersham Nurseries will be open in the evenings for a six-month series of summer supper clubs, hosted by head chef Skye Gyngell. Usually operating as a day-time business, the restaurant will start its monthly supper clubs in April, serving a seasonally-themed menu incorporating a range of fruits and flowers. The April menu will feature hand dived scallops and slow cooked lamb with spring leeks and roasted shallots.

Extra sleeping time

Von Essen hotels are embracing the switch from a harsh winter to British Summertime this 28 March by offering guests at all its 29 hotels a late checkout time of 1pm, so sleepy guests don’t lose an hour of sleep when the clocks go forward.
