The Peat Inn wins restaurant of the year at Scottish Restaurant Awards

The Peat Inn in Fife has been voted Restaurant of the Year at The Scottish Restaurant Awards where Leith's Restaurant Martin Wishart and Kings Wark pub also picked up accolades

The awards, held at Edinburgh's Corn Exchange last night, saw a host of restaurants, pubs and hotels pick up awards from reservation and review website 5pm.co.uk, who asked diners, restaurateurs and suppliers to vote online for their favourite venues in 15 categories before a judging panel cast the final votes.

The Peat Inn's chef/owner Geoffrey Smeddle also beat off Tom Kitchin and Ian McAndrew to win Chef Of The Year, making it a top night for the Fife-based restaurant with rooms.

Best Newcomer went to Rocpool Reserve Hotel in Inverness and the Best Customer Service tribute was won by Hotel Du Vin in Glasgow.

Charles Shaw, chairman of 5pm.co.uk, said: “The culinary standard in Scotland gets better and better every year. 5pm.co.uk is delighted to support the recognition of these fantastic chefs and restaurateurs.”
