Von Essen has appointed a new general manager to oversee the Samling Hotel in Cumbria, which recently won a Michelin star for its restaurant.
Andrew Mackay joins Samling with over 15 years experience in the hotel and hospitality industry, having previously held the position of general manager at Linthwaite House in Cumbria, and The Greenway in Cheltenham.
Mackay will be responsible for maintaining standards and the hotel’s reputation as one of the top 200 in the UK.
Harbour Hotels appointment
Meanwhile the Harbour Hotels Group, which is soon to re-open The Marine Hotel in Devon, has also appointed a new general manager for The Kings Hotel in Christchurch.
Claire Stepney joins Harbour Hotels with experience from working at Chewton Glen Hotel in Hampshire, Combe House Hotel in Devon and Summer Lodge Hotel in Dorset.
Mark Godfrey, managing director of Harbour Hotels, said: “Claire has a huge amount of experience, but most importantly, she understands what we want to achieve here at The Kings. Claire has spent time at some of the region’s leading hotels and her standards are very high so this will only benefit our guests and help us to ensure that The Kings becomes a must visit Hotel on the South Coast.”
