Von Essen has confirmed reports that Chris Horridge is to leave his position as executive head chef at Cliveden House hotel in Berkshire, following a restructure of the hotel’s dining operation.

Horridge, who joined Cliveden in January 2009 after spending three years at Bath Priory where he held a Michelin star, will remain at the hotel until March. It is uncertain where he will move to once his contract expires.

His move is a result of a ‘culinary team restructure’ across the hotel’s three restaurants, Waldo’s, the Terrace Dining Room, and the Cliveden Club Restaurant.

Nick Romano, chief executive of Von Essen, said: “Von Essen hotels prides itself on a very high standard of food and service at all 29 hotels in the collection and we look forward to continuing the strong culinary tradition that Cliveden is known for. We would like to thank Chris for his hard work and wish him all the very best for the future.”

Horridge took over the role of executive head chef at Cliveden from Robert Thompson, who left the hotel after just eight months to open his own restaurant on the Isle of Wight. Michael Caines, who continues to oversee the hotel’s food and beverage operation, replaced Horridge at Bath Priory.
