The 85-bedroom hotel is situated within Chester's HQ complex next to the city's Roodee racecourse and will be the group's first new build hotel.
A 76-cover Michael Caines Champagne Bar and Restaurant, overseen by the chef, but to be run by an as yet unnamed executive chef, will open on the hotel's fifth floor with views across the city. As with Abode's other Michael Caines restaurants, the Chester restaurant will source produce locally where possible and give diners the chance to choose from à la carte, tasting and ‘grazing’ menus.
Hotel jobs
Faye Kelly, who has experience working at hotels in the US and the UK, has been appointed general manager and will start the search for 120 staff this month.
She said: "Chester is a great addition to the company’s burgeoning portfolio and will offer the very best in luxury rooms and suites, along with the finest locally sourced food. The Abode experience is designed to be exceptional and for me this starts with our staff. We are looking for a high calibre staff from all disciplines to ensure the highest levels of service."
Future plans
The Chester site will be the fifth hotel to open under the Abode brand and is part of plans to expand the brand to 15 sites in 'strategic locations' in the UK over the next few years. It follows the opening of hotels in Exeter, Glasgow, Manchester and Canterbury and Abode's B&B brand, Baby Abode in Chelsea and precedes the opening of a hotel in Salisbury.
Abode Chester will be holding a recruitment day on 18 February where positions across food and beverage and housekeeping will be available. Candidates should email their CV to Laura Morgan at hrchester@abodehotels.co.uk or call 0161 2477744.
